Under the Trees
The tree tops swayed above
as the sun did fade
and shadows
lengthened and grew
and my arms
shortened the distance
between me
and you
The sun kissed, high above
the majestic clouds
as it journeyed
to the world's other side
making pink, red
our lips met as I
kissed you
With a unique heartfelt love
that reverberated
with joy
to bring the blush
the smile
a canopy of trees
as shadows lengthened
and I held you.

For Her, I did care
The food was very good
somehow
I did not really care
for she
herself, was there
the candlelight
was soft
not too bright
it's glow it cast about
as if love's loop
to gently snag us both
made the night
something unique, rare
it was a moment
that only two need share
from somewhere
distant, yet not so far
music did dance
it's way to our ears
and as I looked
into her eyes
I knew I need have no fears
for her heart was mine
just as mine
was unquestionably hers
purchased with love
not with diamonds or furs
and I knew a little
of how God must have felt
when of Creation
He said as He saw, "It was good."

Walk the Sandy Stream
Come walk with me along
the sandy stream
where water
once mightily ran
and listen
to the birds' song
Come walk with me there
where the sky
changes with the seasons
and we can seek
life's reasons
knowing that God does truly care
Come walk with me along
the path where grows
the trees, many tall, some old
and hold my hand
if to ask, I might be bold
comforting, in life's right or wrong
Come walk with me, lady fair
then sit on the rock
where our lives as the breeze
becomes so still
as if stopped is time's clock
there I may kiss you, If I dare.
