The Winds of Fate

One ship drives east and another drives west
With the selfsame winds that blow.
'Tis the set of the sails
And not the gales
Which tells us the way to go.

Like the winds of the sea are the ways of fate,
As we voyage along through life;
Tis the set of a soul
That decides its goal,
And not the calm or the strife.

~Ella Wheeler Wilcox~
We are the keepers of the light
within our souls, you see
For that we should endeavor
to be the best that we can be
For others look to you and me
But it is His light they need to see

For if the Light grows dim
and a darkness grows within
How point we the way to Him
Who's love and mercies shine bright
Who's beacon lights the darkest night
And draws the lost from
a treacherous plight...and to
The true Keeper of The Light

By starving emotions we become humorless, rigid and
stereotyped; by repressing them we become literal,
reformatory and holier-than-thou; encouraged, they
perfume life; discouraged, they poison it.

Conviction

Thy faith is not in vain
Though tempests blow
And scars remain to mar
The heart's dream-loveliness;
For, while the spirit weeps
In anguished pain,
It grows in strength and blessedness
To weather storms again.
Thou wouldst not have rejoicing
Nor triumph after tears
If life were on long pathway
Without pitfalls through the years.
Be thankful for the shadows
Upon this earthly sphere;
Thy faith shall overcome them,
For God is ever near!
