The more extreme and the more expressed that passion is, the more unbearable does life seem without it. It reminds us that if passion dies or is denied, we are partly dead...
~John Boorman
Waterhouse's Adriadne
Adriadne
Waterhouse's lady
restless, restful, dressed
in red
waiting, wanting
as the great cats prowl
so does her mind
her heart
passions rising
without movement
of body
for her desire
is deep within her soul
passions
that will not die
and this
oddly is good
for as passion dies
bit by bit
so does life itself
fade, die
bit by bit, bit by bit
until what's left
is but a mere shadow
of the life
that once was
this is
the lady waiting
dreaming, wanting, needing
she is
Adriadne.
